Role Overview
These positions are offered under a collaboration between the Foundation of Healthcare Technologies Society and Commonwealth University St. Lucia to establish the Commonwealth University College of Public Health Technologies (CUCOPHT) and with the Commonwealth University College of Medicine (CUCOM), Commonwealth University St. Lucia, to foster interdisciplinary learning, collaborative research, and community engagement among undergraduate medical students.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative public health education and community-based initiatives in the Caribbean while working in an international academic environment.
Job Description
- Assist in establishing the Commonwealth University College of Public Health Technologies (CUCOPHT)
- Coordinate and support the effective delivery of academic programs for undergraduate medical students
- Assist in developing and updating course content and other teaching and assessment materials
- Teaching in ongoing academic programs
- Guiding and mentoring students under the experiential learning program
- Organise workshops, seminars, and events to enhance student learning and professional development
- Implement outreach programs, health promotion initiatives, screening camps, service-learning activities, and community-based research that advance health and well-being in Saint Lucia and beyond
- Contribute to drafting manuscripts for publication
- Conduct literature reviews and analyse data
- Monitor program implementation and manage resources effectively
- Creating engaging content for public health communication
- Writing and disseminating a report
- Support the establishment of the FHTS SMAART Centre and implement community initiatives, population-based research, innovation and entrepreneurship, skills development, and employment generation to advance good health and well-being in Saint Lucia and beyond
- Travel as required within St Lucia and internationally
Qualifications and Skills Required
Essential
- Master’s in Public Health, Population Health, Epidemiology, Allied Health, or a closely related field; however, PhDs can also apply
Preferred
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience in academic program coordination and curriculum development
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, and external partners
- Background in public health research and publication
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools is an advantage
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
